THE NEW SHOWGROUNDS IS A GAME CHANGER

For a Council workshop, I visited the site this week and it is massive, bigger than most people realise.

A new show precinct, pavilion and arena built properly for every show activity, from cattle to poultry to equestrian. A 1500 seat theatre style auditorium, function and meeting space, sporting ground, motorhome and van sites.

This is not just 3 days in October, it's a year round venue in the heart of our city. Conferences, concerts, community events, markets, visitors staying in Glenorchy and spending in Glenorchy.

Huge congratulations to the Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania. They have backed themselves and got on with it. Well done to Scott Gadd and the team.

Now comes the piece that matters most for our city. The residential land on that site, it's homes, close to shops, close to services and right on the Northern Suburbs transit corridor. Land that is already inside the city, already serviced and already connected.

While Council must do its due diligence, the residential land is an important part of the site's future. Land being released and homes being built is exactly what we need. Homes, not hopes & hotels.

Glenorchy First.
