SOMETIMES YOU’VE JUST GOT TO BACK YOURSELF!

After a few years of attending the Claremont Flower Show, last year I made the mistake of announcing to a few friends that in 2026 I was going to do more than just look…I was going to ENTER!

Now, I’ve got some beautiful camellias and daffodils growing at home and to be completely transparent, the previous owner planted them, but I own them now!

As you can imagine, I copped a few jokes and somehow earned myself the nickname ‘Petal’ but I was determined to have a go.

For me, it was more about doing something outside my comfort zone, backing myself and doing something I’d never done before.

I entered this year with absolutely no expectation, just wanted to be able to say I’d done it. Well…'Petal' landed a 1st place, a 2nd place and a 5th !

What a fantastic community event the Claremont Flower Show puts on, the Memorial Hall was absolutely full of colour and the smell of the flowers was incredible.

A huge congratulations to Janelle Noble and the entire Claremont Flower Show team, the volunteers, judges, exhibitors and all the garden clubs who support these wonderful shows.

These are the community events that bring people together, celebrate people’s passions and keep local traditions thriving.

I think ‘Petal’ might be back next year.
