PROUDLY GLENORCHY.

I’ve spoken with hundreds of people and knocked on more than 1,000 doors. Not once, has anyone brought up an amalgamation with Hobart, it’s simply not a priority.
Some current politicians have described amalgamation between Hobart and Glenorchy as long overdue, I completely disagree.
My position is clear, I do not support a merger with Hobart. If that was to change, there must be a call from community, then genuine support from community and clear evidence that it would deliver better outcomes for Glenorchy.
Saying a bigger council would be better isn’t enough. Hobart proposed a report & elector poll to explore a merger, council understood the proposal. Understanding it doesn’t mean we have to agree with the approach or make it a priority.
Just because Hobart sings, doesn’t mean Glenorchy has to dance.
We can work with neighbouring councils, share services where there is value and tackle regional challenges together. We don’t need to merge to cooperate.
My responsibility is to listen and act in Glenorchy’s best interests. Those interests must come before any personal agenda or idea.
As Mayor, I’ll put my energy into what’s best for Glenorchy and the people who call it home.
Glenorchy First. ⚫️⚪️
Back me, every vote counts! 🗳️
