Code of Conduct Determination

The published Code of Conduct determination involving a Glenorchy mayoral candidate has been a long time coming.

Discrimination and disrespectful behaviour are simply not acceptable in a modern workplace. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected.

I applaud the Council employees who had the courage to speak up. As reported in the determination, I also raised concerns with the Acting CEO at the time. I will continue to call out unacceptable behaviour.

In my view, a candidate formally reprimanded for serious misconduct towards Council employees should be withdrawing their nomination.

We all have a responsibility to act with integrity and respect, especially those in leadership and those elected to represent our community.
